Stayt makes his bow at Lord’s

TOM Stayt, from Great Cheverell, made a dream start to his first class career by claiming the wicket of an England batsman at the home of cricket. Stayt, pictured, made his debut for Gloucestershire in the county championship match against Middlesex at Lord's and claimed Andrew Strauss as his first victim. He went on to finish with figures of three for 51 from 16 overs in the home side's first innings. The match ended in a draw. Wiltshire-born Stayt is a seam bowler and one of the first graduates of the Gloucestershire academy.   more...

Trophy winner

The Rigby Trophy was held for the first time at West Wilts Golf Club on Friday. This is a new competition for those members who have had joint replacements and the trophy is named after the surgeon who operated on some of the recipients. The competition is a stableford event played over 18 holes and in benign conditions, scoring was of a good standard. The winner was Colin Fourmy with a score of 39 points, closely followed by Roger Lee and Stuart McGregor-Johnson, both with 38 points. The trophy which features a steel hip joint, was made by Hiscock Engineering and presented to the winner by Club Chairman, Dave Hiscock. This will now be an annual event at the club.   more...
