Rehearsals in park for panto

From the Wiltshire Times, first published Tuesday 25th Dec 2007.

SHOPPERS strolling through Trowbridge Park this week have had a sneak preview of a local drama group's pantomime.

The Trowbridge Players were in full costume for a photo call for their forthcoming show Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

But with more than seven dwarfs the onlookers seem puzzled.

Director Mary Sauders explained: "We are running the pantomime over two weeks and needed a double set of dwarfs to cover all the performances."

School pupil Imogen Dunne is taking the role of Snow White and is making her debut in a principal lead.

She said: "I have always loved singing and dancing since my days at primary school and I am really looking forward to this show."

The Players have been working on the production since October and have been busy rehearsing ready for the show that runs for seven days over a two-week period next month.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a traditional pantomime written by John Morley. The familiar story of Snow White - in which she is pursued by a jealous queen, hides with the dwarfs, is fed a poison apple but then is woken by Prince Charming with a kiss - was made into a film by Walt Disney back in 1938, winning several awards.

The Trowbridge Players production is set to take to the stage at the Arc Theatre in Trowbridge on Thursday January 10 with performances on the Friday and Saturday.

It runs again the following week from Wednesday January 16 through to Saturday January 19.

Tickets are available at the Arc Theatre priced £7 for adults with concessions at £5.
