A TEENAGER died as he crossed Great Western Way early this morning.
The 17-year-old from Swindon was struck by a dark coloured hatchback at the pedestrian crossing close to Transfer Bridges at about 12.50am. He later died in hospital.
Great Western Way was closed for several hours as accident investigators carried out a thorough examination of the scene. The road was reopened earlier this morning.
A man is currently in police custody helping police with their enquiries.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the dark coloured hatchback before the incident to come forward.
