From the The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald, first published Tuesday 25th Dec 2007.
Neighbours raised the alarm after hearing a smoke alarm going off next door in Charter Road, Chippenham shortly after 8am this morning.
They called the Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service who found a small fire in a first floor flat.
Three pumping appliances from Chippenham and Corsham attended the incident and dealt with a small fire in a living roo A fire brigade spokesman said: "The cause of the fire was an unattended candle left overnight.
" This highlights the need to use and extinguish tealights and candles correctly and ensure that you have working smoke alarms in your home."
No one was hurt although the flat suffered extensive smoke-logging.
