AN EXPLOSION injured one man and blew the roof off a Swindon block of flats early today.
Police, firefighters and paramedics all rushed to Stamford Close, Toothill, at 7.20am today.
The blast totally destroyed the roof and much of the building's first floor.
Residents in nearby flats were evacuated and one man was taken to hospital with what police described as 'minor injuries'.
Police said the cause of the blast was 'unknown'.
At 9am today firefighters were also dealing with a small fire at the scene, caused by the explosion.
Insp Mike Jones of Wiltshire Police said: "Local residents have been evacuated and this evacuation is being controlled by local authorities."
