Drug dealers held after raid

From the The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald, first published Sunday 23rd Dec 2007.

An undercover drugs operation carried out by Swindon police has seen three men charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

Eddie West, 23, Michael Cadell, 22 and Andrew Scott, 23, have all been remanded in custody after appearing before Swindon Magistrates on Friday.

The three men will face judges at Swindon Crown court on January 4.

A 37-year-old woman was also arrested but has been released on bail pending further inquires.

The operation was carried out by undercover officers between November and December this year after residents in the Park North housing estate raised fears about an increasing problem with drug dealing in the area.

Police made a series of secret recordings where it is believed drug transactions took place and an address in Hatherleigh Court was raided on Wednesday December 19.

A quantity of crack cocaine and heroin was recovered from the property.

Another address in the Buckhurst Recreation Ground area was later busted by police and around £17,000 in cash was found.

The operation was carried out by Swindon drugs squad in partnership with the estate's neighborhood watch.

Anyone with more information or concerns about drugs in the area should call Swindon police direct on (01793) 507942.
