REFEREE Clive Parsons is giving up the whistle to return to playing with Corsham Park Rangers.
The 37-year-old is no stranger to life at Rangers. He first played for the Third Division side in 2003 before having 18 months out, during which time he refereed on the league.
He rejoined the side, who his son Jonathan also plays for, in the 2005/06 season and scored 11 goals. The following season saw him net a further four goals before he went back to refereeing.
Parsons, who can play either as a striker or as a goalkeeper, has decided that he is missing playing so much he has given up the whistle for the time to help out at Rangers who are struggling in both defence and attack.
Manager Martin Perrett might have to flick a coin to decide which position to play Parsons, but it is hoped his experience might help the youngsters around him. If that proves to be the case Corsham Park could start to climb the table in the new year.
