From the Wiltshire Times, first published Wednesday 12th Dec 2007.

A CALM but bitterly cold day set the scene for the Carps AC Christmas match fished at Cider Farm Lakes today.

All of the 23 anglers knew that after two nights of biting frosts, the fish were unlikely to be feeding much.

Tony Thick came out on top with an all-carp catch from peg 46 on the Yarlington Mill match lake. Fishing maggot at depth he managed to tempt 39lbs 9oz into his net.

Dave Bacon used similar tactics for his 29lb 13oz for his second placing, from Bill Ferris ,fishing long and deep from peg two for 26lbs.

Club president John Bennett was less than 2lbs behind with 24lbs 4oz.

Overall 333lbs were weighed in, giving an average of 15 lbs with all those who fished picking up prizes.
