GIANT Christmas pudding costumes, puppet shows and an award-winning children's author were just some of the delights for youngsters in Bradford on Avon this week.

Author Jeremy Strong entertained the crowd with tales from his book, Invasion of the Christmas Pudding, as part of a children's day at Bradford on Avon Library on Saturday.

Librarian Penny England dressed up as a Christmas pudding much to the delight of the youngsters.

She said: "I haven't got a problem with dressing up. It was so appropriate that I happened to have this Christmas pudding in my attic from another event. I think it was the adults who were impressed by it the most.

"Jeremy Strong volunteered to come to the library for our Christmas morning. He's a very prolific writer and has won awards, writing books regularly for children."

More then 30 children between the ages of six and eight also got involved in making Christmas decorations, while the under-five's watched a puppet show and listened to Christmas stories.

Jeremy Strong, who lives in Bradford on Avon, has written numerous books including Return of the Hundred-Mile-An-Hour Dog, which won the NFCBG Children's Book Award in 1997.

He has also written Krazy Kow Saves The World - Well Almost and I'm Telling You, They're Aliens, both of which were listed in the 50 best books by the Federation of Children's Book Groups.
