Former fire chief raises money for air ambulance

From the The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald, first published Wednesday 12th Dec 2007.

FORMER Wiltshire fire chief John Craig last week handed over a cheque for £1,000 to Wiltshire Air Ambulance, raised by two evenings of opera and nosh.

The dinners, in November 2006 and November 2007, took place at the Marriott Hotel in Swindon with cabaret performances from Hatstand Opera, a professional company of very talented vocalists.

The distinguished guest list at the events included Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, John Bush.

Mr Craig, who lives in Devizes with his wife Margaret and who organised the events, said: "The Wiltshire Air Ambulance is of immense value to the people of this county.

"It is a privilege to devote a little time to raising money in support of such a worthy cause. My sincere thanks go to all who supported these events that were such fun to organise and to enjoy."
