Santas ditch their reindeer

From the The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald, first published Wednesday 12th Dec 2007.

CHIPPENHAM Harrier Brigid Browne was the first Mrs Santa Claus home in the North Wiltshire 5km Santa dash in Swindon on Sunday.

The dash includes Swindon's shopping precinct and is run in two laps.

She said: "In pursuit of the big 50, the number of races I have run this year, I donned a large Mother Christmas costume and ran the first ever Swindon Santa dash.

"The look on innocent pedestrian faces as 70-odd Santas rounded the corners was priceless. By the second time round shoppers were actually more ready for us.

"I'm not sure what time I did it in as I was so amazed to come first lady and fourth, possibly third, overall that did not check my watch until I had collected my medal."
