Old Road Tavern match called off

From the Wiltshire Times, first published Saturday 24th Nov 2007.

OLD Road Tavern have been given permission to call off their Division Four match at Riverside Renegades tomorrow.

The Tavern players felt that in the light of recent events they were unable to play the game.

They are more concerned about the health of manager and founder member Bernie Court, who suffered a heart attack while running the line for his team in last Sunday's match against Corsham Centre B.

A league spokesman said: "Bernie is now out of hospital but his road to making a full recovery will be a long and slow one.

"Players, both old and new, officials and management committee members of the league would like to wish Bernie, who has been a much-respected character on the league, a speedy recovery."
