From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Saturday 21st Jan 2006.
ALBERT Jarrett says Iffy Onuora's persistent approach has provided him with a massive shot in the arm as he relishes the chance to link up with an old pal.
The Town boss revealed earlier this week that he had finally landed the 21-year-old's services after at least half a dozen phone calls.
Jarrett still has 18 months remaining on his current deal at Brighton but isn't ruling out making his switch to Wiltshire permanent.
One game at a time though. The first task is to repay the faith Onuora has shown in him.
He said: "It's good to come into a team knowing that the manager's got belief in you, wants to play you and wants the best out of you for the team.
"I know I've got something to offer the team and when I'm out there I'll give 100 per cent and hopefully repay him. You can take it as a fresh start.
"I'm here to get games under my belt and hopefully help Swindon out of the relegation zone. After the month's over we'll see where we go from there.
"There's a possibility to do something (extend the loan or make it permanent)."
Versatility is certainly an attribute Jarrett brings to the party.
He said: "I can play anywhere left or right. I'll play wherever the manager wants me to. We have to pick up points. we need to be winning."
The youngster knows Town's position is precarious but he is going to try and block out that sort of pressure in the coming month.
He said: "Of course there's pressure but I'm not going to approach games thinking like that. You have to be positive."
A familiar face from his days in youth football will certainly aid the settling in process.
He said: "Ricky Shakes and I played in the same South London district side.
"He's a good friend and also a winger. His job is similar to mine.
"He can help guide me and to help me settle in."
Former Southampton midfielder Matt Le Tissier will be the guest speaker at Town's next sporting dinner on March 15.
