From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Saturday 21st Jan 2006.
WESTLECOT men have only one team competition Wessex League left to aim for this season following their elimination from the Denny Cup, writes DAVE EATON.
However, they are certainly playing an active part in the competition which they have won several times in past seasons.
Westlecot currently top the East Region section by seven points from West Berks and are 10 points clear of third-placed Carterton, and for good measure also have a match in hand over both.
They are the only unbeaten club in the seven-team East section and warm favourites to win the group and progress again to the last 16 and Wessex League play-offs for the overall title.
Westlecot return to league action tomorrow against Oxford City and County looking to maintain their unbeaten league run and move a big step nearer the play-offs.
Oxford C&C are surprisingly struggling at the moment with only one win in three and lost out to lowly Rivermead last time.
On form at least Westlecot appear likely to take another big haul of points and cement a play-off spot.
