From the Salisbury Journal, first published Saturday 21st Jan 2006.
SOME time last year, you published in the Journal a letter of mine regarding my grandfather's grave, headed Church is the Vandal Here'.
After you published this letter, I received a lot of public support, agreeing with me.
My family and I decided to put a grey stone edging around the grave, which is very tasteful and has improved the look of a sinking grave and the look of an untidy churchyard.
The stone edging will also stop the grounds-people running their mower across the grave, stop them walking over the grave, stop the rose bushes being chopped down and, most of all, stop the disrespect to my grandfather's memory.
In November, I received a letter telling me to remove the stones, as I did not have permission to put them there.
If I had applied for permission, it would probably not have been given.
This is stupid and outrageous.
Surely I have the right to maintain my grandfather's grave, in a tasteful way?
I will not give in to these people and I am prepared to fight them all the way!
