Inn the mood

SWINDON SUNDAY LEAGUE: It seems that the festive break has done lowly Southbrook Inn a power of good as they gained their first points of the season in Division 4 with a 4-3 home win against Nationwide.

Colin Yates with a double, Ash Channing and Romano Januszkiewicx were all on the scoresheet as they swapped places in the league table with their opponents.

RJK Ferndale were held 3-3 by Mallard despite a double for Neil Matthews and Aaron Kaye with one. Lee Wilson, Wesley Christian and a late equaliser from Dave Jones helped Mallard to share the points.

Duckhams registered a 4-1 home victory against Auto Colour with John L'Estrange, James Bradfield, Terry and Nick Adams all netting.

DIVISION 1

Premier Watercoolers came away from Juventus with a 6-3 win in the only Division 1 fixture played.

Steve Winchcombe with a double, Stuart Embling, Kevin Theobald and George Harding grabbed the goals with Tate Hulbert, Frank Serratore and Richard Martin replying.

DIVISION 2

CJ Marlborough joined Wroughton WMC in second spot after their 6-0 demolition of bottom club Coleshill.

Goals from Jimmy Wright, George Greene, Chris Allen and Marley Griffiths helped Swindon West Indians to a 4-0 home success against Thamesdown Nalgo.

DIVISION 5

A goal in each half from Dave Ashworth and Chris Hawkins saw Liden Sunday beat Deers Leap 2-0 to go second in the table.

Behind them Castrol moved into joint third after their 8-1 drubbing of Philip Andrews. Jake Henly, Pete Griffiths scored and there were doubles from Ian Davies, Ian Neave and also Craig Ingram with two long range efforts.

The Philip Andrews consolation came from Welvis Magalhaes.

Nathan Over and an own goal helped Village Inn to a 2-0 win against Lamb Marlborough.

DIVISION 6

In the battle of the top two it was leaders Queenstown who came out on top by winning 2-0 thanks to Shaun Smith and Derrick Holmes.

Dennis Removals were held to a 1-1 by White Hart Stratton, Martyn White and John McDonough were the respective scorers.

GTS drew 2-2 at Westlink thanks to Richie Kirby and Jon Lampard netting as did Matthew Bisssett and Dan Johnson for the home side.

A Dave Griffin hat-trick for Blueprint set his team up for a 4-2 win at Moredon Cheney. Jeremy Smith netted the other goal and the Moredon scorers were Ben Roberts and an own goal.

Alan Hawthorne and Kevin Pocock gave Pertemps a 2-1 success against AFC Royston, whose scorer was Nick Wimhurst.

DIVISION 7

Leaders APS Mortgages swept past Swindon City 8-0 with Dave Rendell firing in a five-timer, Gary Sealey (2) and Ben Brumpton added the others.

Behind them Green Baize Utd won 7-2 at Smart Movers thanks to a Ryan Whitefield hat-trick, Pat Slattery, Ady Roper, Darren McCluskey and Tom Valentine.

On target for Greenbridge MOT were Wayne Petrie, Justin Hyde,Tony Niester and Melvyn Mckeown in a welcome 4-0 win against Brewers Arms.

DIVISION 8

Cats Solutions are the new leaders after their 9-1 win at Home Zone and Pinehurst Community losing to Dorcan Old Boys.

Matt Jarrett, Wes Pidgeon, Ryan Keech, Matt Bown, Rich Ward and Terry Moore with a four-timer were all on target as was Kelvin Spencer for the HomeZone consolation.

Matt Hodey from a corner, an own goal and Graeme Little contributed to Dorcan's 3-2 success.

Bear Hotel beat Milton Road 4-0 courtesy of efforts from Micky Jones Shaun Fox, Brett Reay and Charlie Bodle.

Greenmeadow were 5-1 winners at Red Lion with doubles for Johnny Coole and Jon Saunders and one for Pete Temple. Shaun McCombie netted for the Lion.

KNOCKOUT CUP

In a long outstanding preliminary round match, Wroughton WMC demolished Eldene Social 9-0. On the scoresheet were Keith Dart and Glenn Armstrong with hat-tricks, Tom Dingle, Stuart Temple and Richie Saunders.

Division 5 leaders Nine Elms had a cracking 2-1 win at Wanborough from Division 3 with a double from Warren Fuller, now back from injury. John Angliss replied for Wanborough in this 2nd round clash.

CHAIRMAN'S TROPHY

In second round games Sandgate from Division 7 won 6-3 at Division 3 side Campbell James thanks to a hat-trick apiece for Terry Smith and Richard Donovan with Rob Campbell and Rob Green (2) replying for Campbell.

Red Lion Cricklade walloped West Swindon Wanderers 8-0 with Nathan Lightbody, Jamie Williams, Adam Obree and Devon McCalla (5) on target.
