Supermarine are beaten by last-gasp Clevedon

A LAST-GASP Clevedon winner brought Swindon Supermarine's six-match unbeaten run in the league to an end.

After a slow start Mark Colllier's side had twice pegged back Clevedon and could have won if Giles Harris' second-half strike had stood.

However, after Steve Davis cancelled out Clevedon's opener, Robert Hulbert made it 2-2 after the hosts had regained the lead in the second-half.

But right at the death, Clevedon struck to end Marine's unbeaten league run and go top of the Southern League Division One West table in the process.

Boss Collier is now looking for his troops to respond on Saturday when they play host to Stourport.

He said: "We made a slow start and I'm obviously disappointed with that. But in the second half we were by far the better team and their manager has said to me after the game that he can't believe how we didn't get something out of it.

"I thought we did enough to get something from the game.

"Now I'm looking for the lads to respond to this in our next game."

In the Premier Division, Cirencester won away at Gloucester by a single goal.

Shrivenham booked their place in the second round of the Norman Matthews Floodlit Cup with a 3-2 win over North Leigh.

Wootton Bassett though bowed out of the competition, losing 2-0 away at Slimbridge.
