CHILDREN'S cartoon character Spongebob Squarepants was an inspiration for children across Swindon in a colouring competition.

The competition was run by North Swindon Library and it had a record number of entries with 237 children taking part.

Five-year-old Sophie Oakes, and Amanda Walker, 10, pictured above, both claimed a winning bounty consisting of the latest Spongebob Squarepants DVD, cuddly toys and sticker books.

Sophie won the 0 to 5 age group, while Amanda won the six to 12 year old category.

The two victors and their families were invited to receive their prizes at the Orbital Park Library.
