YOUTH CRICKET: A DOMINIC Webb hat-trick finally ended Wootton Bassett's hopes of lifting the Wiltshire Youth League Under 13 play-off final at Chippenham.

Webb struck to hand victory to Blue Division winners South Wilts over their Red Division-winning opponents.

Batting first, South Wilts' Ben Upton (41) and Dominic Webb (38) got them off solidly, before leg spinner Ravi Samant (2-27) checked their progress.

Chris Mundy (34 not out) and James Haggaty (14) took South Wilts to a commanding 169-6 in their 35 overs.

Replying, Bassett made a solid start led by Taylor Aitken (20). But Upton (3-13) and leg spinner Shaun Dixon (3-27) made deep inroads and Webb's 3-11, all clean bowled, saw Bassett dismissed for 103.

South Wilts completed their Under 11 Red season unbeaten with an emphatic 162-run victory away to Devizes, Jamie Smith (72) and Thomas Cowley (81 not out) laying the foundations with the bat.

Chippenham finished in second place following their narrow eight-run victory over local rivals Corsham.

Chippenham's total of 80-4 was built around an innings of 34 not out from Josh Bull.

Hugo Hudson Wall (22) and Jacob Unwin (19) then gave Corsham innings a promising start before fine bowling from Andrew Edwards (4-3) and Brad Dawson (3-15) brought about a collapse, Corsham eventually bowled out for 72.

Purton won the Under 11 Blue division in decisive fashion with a nine-wicket victory over closest challengers Swindon.

Swindon had little answer to the Purton attack of Craig Miles (4-9) and Callum Wright (3-8) and were dismissed for just 41.

Miles (17 not out) and Wright (24 not out) then saw Purton home in just over five overs and they now play South Wilts in the play-off final.

Accurate bowling from Malmesbury's George Royle (3-12) and Tom Whitehead (2-1 in four overs) restricted Biddestone to just 46-5 in their 20 overs.

Royle then scored 20 not out as Malmesbury reached their victory target in just eight overs for the loss of one wicket.

In Wootton Bassett's home game against Shrivenham, Gregory Davis produced an outstanding all-round performance and almost single-handedly won the game for Bassett.

Thanks to 64 not out from Scott Winskill, Shrivenham's innings closed on an impressive 107-2. Davis took the only wickets to fall returning 2-7 in his four overs.

He completely dominated the reply with 80 not out and saw Bassett home by four wickets with an over to spare.

Opener George Rigali (62) led Swindon under 15's batting against South Wilts.

He was well supported by Jamie Furkins (26), Sam Pinchin (29), Paul Laggett (26) and Nathan Iles (23 not out) as Swindon posted 203-5 in their 45 overs.

James Glover (43) and Jamie Bennett (23) battled hard for South Wilts but Max Whiting (3-30) and Rigali (2-7) saw Swindon home.
