Centre for separated parents to see their children

From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Monday 21st Feb 2005.

CHILDREN from separated families will be able to meet with their parents at a new centre opening in Swindon.

In-sight, a supervised contact centre, will open in Milton Road on Tuesday March 1. The centre is part of the Family Mediation Service charity and will offer a safe environment for children to meet with a parent after the courts have ordered supervised contact because there is thought to be some risk to the child.

During the meetings a supervisor stays within sight of the child at all times.

The new centre includes a room with toys, books, computer games and a DVD player for the child and parent to meet in, as well as a separate room for the other parent to wait in.

There is also a meeting room for the parties concerned for reviewing contact arrangements.

The centre will only take referrals from the Child and Family Court Advisory and Support Service when a case is underway and going through the court procedure.
