A MAN who has destroyed worlds, conquered galaxies . . . and also helped children with their Green Cross Code visited Swindon at the weekend.
Dave Prowse, famous for his role as the evil dark lord Darth Vader in Star Wars visited the Infinitely Better store on Saturday to meet fans and sign autographs.
He said: "I love getting about and meeting the fans. This is all I tend to do these days, after acting for 28 years, I have had a marvellous time.
"Doing these appearances has taken me all over the world, I must have done 40 of the 50 states in America, as well as going to Japan, and I have met so many wonderful people from prime ministers to presidents."
As well as appearing as Darth Vader, he also starred in the controversial film, A Clockwork Orange as well as television series including Doctor Who, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and The Avengers.
Many will also know him as Green Cross Code man the job, which he described as the best he had ever had. It taught children road crossing skills.
But despite the many roles, it was his famed Star Wars appearances that fans will know him best for.
David Turner, 25, from Park North said: "I've got the Stars War box set and I had to come down and get it signed, but I remember him as the Green Cross Code man as well."
On June 10, Bond actor George Lazenby will be visiting the shop to meet fans.
