Cast your eyes over plans for new village garden

From the archive, first published Saturday 26th Nov 2005.

PEOPLE in Cricklade have the chance to inspect plans for a proposed community garden. The idea is the brainchild of the town council, the business community and the Cricklade Bloomers, the group which was formed to enter the town in the Britain In Bloom competition.

The first phase includes gardens and flagpoles at Waylands, opposite the town hall.

The second phase would be a larger garden with a seating area and the final element would be a town bandstand.

The garden is expected to cost £80,000.

Town clerk Margaret Griffiths said: "If the town council goes ahead with these proposals it will need to secure a large proportion of the cost from grant funding."

There will be a public meeting at 7pm on December 14 at the United Church. Meanwhile, the drawings are available for inspection at the town council offices.
