Marathon fundraiser

From the archive, first published Saturday 26th Nov 2005.

MARATHON enthusiast Brian Hall has paid for life-saving kit at Great Western Hospital, thanks to a gruelling 52-mile charity run.

The 23-year-old, from Rodbourne, completed the run which raised almost £2,000 in September last year.

His time was an impressive eight hours and 13 minutes.

His cash has paid for an intravenous pump for children.

Brian, who did the double marathon around Swindon in one day, said he wanted to show staff his appreciation.

He has undergone more than 30 operations, mainly for pelvis complications.

"I just wanted to give something back," he said

He has been invited to the hospital next month to see the new kit.
