Extra-time K0 for Highworth

From the archive, first published Tuesday 15th Nov 2005.

HIGHWORTH Town went out of the cup beaten 2-1 at Biddestone in extra-time. Chances were few and far between in the first half as Biddestone battled bravely against opponents from a higher league.

The home side finally went ahead although the goal had an element of luck.

A Luke Gullick shot on 65 minutes took a wicked deflection off a defender and completely deceived Highworth keeper Elliott Jackson.

The visitors looked to be going out of the cup but grabbed a last-gasp equaliser in the final minute with a superb 35-yard strike from TJ Bohane.

The match was settled five minutes into extra-time as Gullick rounded off a move involving Lee Wickham and Will Edwards to send Biddestone into the next round.

Malmesbury Vics were beaten 3-2 at home by Shrewton while Cricklade went down 3-0 at Warminster Town.

And there was no joy either for Pewsey Vale who were beaten 3-1 at home by Bemerton.

Calne Town had to come from a goal down to win 3-1 at Trowbridge.

They fell behind to a Chris Tricker tenth minute header.

Calne levelled on the break after 17 minutes when Glen Armstrong converted a perfect Gary Banks cross.

Nine minutes later Banks was the provider again as Chris King put Calne 2-1 up.

Banks sealed the tie for Calne with the third goal in the 63rd minute as Armstrong returned the earlier compliment.
