Astronomer set for talk

PROF Jocelyn Bell Burnell will deliver a lecture on astronomy and poetry at the University of Bath's Oakfield campus tomorrow.

Prof Bell Burnell is a professional astronomer who has used telescopes carried on satellites, rockets and balloons.

She built a large radio telescope in Cambridgeshire and has used the UK's infrared and millimetre waveband telescopes in Hawaii, but also collects poetry with an astronomical theme.

The emphasis of the talk will be on the last 50 years looking at ways poetry portrays astronomy.

The lecture will be in the main hall of the Marlowe Avenue campus between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.
