Woman hit as she fights off mugger

A WOMAN was punched in the face as she struggled with a mugger in Penhill.

The 23-year-old victim was walking along a footpath between Grafton Road and Potterdown Road when she was attacked.

Her assailant approached her and tried to snatch her bag.

The woman was determined to keep hold of her belongings and after striking out at the victim the man ran off empty handed.

The incident happened at 3.30pm on Sunday.

The suspect is described as a white man, about 6ft tall, of medium build, aged 25-30.

He had short dark hair, facial stubble and was wearing a dark coloured linen style jacket and dark jeans.
