From one old Nick to a namesake

From the archive, first published Saturday 12th Nov 2005.

"There's no mistaking first festive tune of the year" (Letters, Nov 10).

I hate to disagree with Nicholas Gough (since apart from anything else at this time of year we Nicholases should stick together), but we did investigate his allegation that we were guilty of UCMB (Unseasonal Christmas Music Broadcasting) and discovered the music was coming from one of our retailers who was holding a promotional event in its store that day.

Like many others with the name Nicholas I was born around Christmas and the very last thing I want to be reminded of is another imminent birthday . . .

A very merry Christmas and happy birthday Mr Gough!
