I ENTIRELY agree with the letter by Barrie Thompson. We, at the weekly railway workers meeting at the old hospital, were given a talk by the new financially expert man to handle Swindon's position.
He told the truth, when he said the centre of Swindon is a mess,
I now live there and I entirely agreed with him.
I even said that the football team would now be on the decline, because the position of the ground next to the busiest roundabout in the country was wrong we need a new stadium.
As Reading and Brighton now say, a football team is a big boost to any city or town, and brings money into the place.
When the council held up their hands in defeat to the Shaw Forest brigade, they stopped any chance of an investor being interested in the club.
They also helped the people who live in the leafy suburbs think that the centre of Swindon will put up with anything as long as their positions remain untouched and their house prices remain high.
