WILTSHIRE TIMES EXCLUSIVE: How Emma became a new woman after her £11,000 TV makeover.

GASPS of amazement echoed through the room as a mum-of-three unveiled an £11,000 extreme makeover.

Emma Mumford, 33, of Sangster Avenue, Melksham, was selected from thousands of contestants to appear on the UK Living TV show Extreme Makeovers.

The second series of the popular show started last night and Mrs Mumford will appear on television in mid-November.

She travelled to London six weeks ago for a boob job, eyebrow lift, nose job, dental work and style makeover.

Around 40 friends and family gathered at Hartham Park in Corsham on Thursday to see the changes.

Mrs Mumford said: "The most dramatic change people say they notice about me is that I'm smiling more.

"I watched the first series and remember being absolutely gutted because I wanted so much to be on it.

"It has given me so much more confidence. I walk down the street and am happy to make eye contact with people. Before I would hang my head and just scurry along."

Mrs Mumford is one of 20 contestants picked from more than 50,000 applicants, and in August she was whisked to a five star hotel in Knightsbridge, London.

Her extreme makeover began with three hours of surgery including an eyebrow lift, nose job and a breast enhancement which took her from less than a AA cup to a 32D.

A trip to the dentist followed and later an operation to remove thread veins in her face.

Finally the transformation was completed with hair extensions and a new wardrobe. The total cost of the surgery was £11,280 but the happy mum says it was worth every penny. Mrs Mumford said: "I was nervous before I went on but at the same time really excited.

"I just feel all girly and can't stop smiling. I bought a bra for the first time in my life, it was a weird feeling.

"When my husband and kids saw me for the first time they were all crying. Everybody was, they were tears of happiness though.

"It is hard to believe they picked me out of all the thousands of people who applied, I am just so grateful.

"I always said if I won the Lottery I would be on the operating table on Monday morning. It feels like I have won my own lottery."

The trained hairdresser is married to Nigel, 37, and the couple have three kids, Jack, 12, Amy, nine, and six-year-old Beckie.

Husband Nigel said: "She was always very pretty but this has just made her a lot more confident.

"She looks absolutely fantastic and is on top of the world. We all missed her at home and it is so nice to have her back."
