Bassett go out of cup

Chippenham under 14s beat Wootton Bassett 31-7 in the county cup.

The first half brought three tries and conversion for the home side, and Chippenham went into the break 10 points ahead at 17-7, Bassett coming back strongly during the half to score a converted try.

In the second half Chippenham ran in another two converted tries to secure a convincing win.

n Wootton Bassett under 15 lost 29-0 to Newbury. The last time these two sides met Newbury put 84 points on the scoreboard, and although Newbury were able to win by a reduced margin, Bassett put the visitors under a significant amount of pressure, particularly in the second half and were unlucky not to have made the scoresheet.

n Swindon under 8s drew 7-7 with Marlborough.Try scorers were Tom Codling (3), Tommy Farnsworth (2), James Easton and Jake Cox.

In their second match, Swindon won 7-0 with tries from Codling (3), Christian Wood, Easton, Owain Hire and Tommy Farnsworth.

They won the third match 5-3, with tries from Hire (3), Cox and Codling.

n SWINDON under 9s lost 2-0 to Marlborough, and a mixed under 9s and 10s also lost, 4-0.

n SWINDON under 11s beat Marlborough 4-0 with tries from Sam Williams, Jack Kimber and Dec Thomas (2).

In a second friendly Swindon won 2-0, both tries scored by Williams.

Chippenham under 7s played two games against Maidenhead, losing one 60-25 and winning the other 30-15.

The under eight matches saw Chippenham win one, draw one and lose four.

The under 9s lost 7-3 and won 7-0.

The under 10s won 5-0, and the under 11s lost 10-5 and 15-5.

The under 12s lost their first game 20-0 and then won the other two, both by 10-0.

Corsham under 15s lost 38-0 to Chippenham U15s in the county cup.
