Still safety not silverware for Mark

From the archive, first published Tuesday 25th Oct 2005.

SWINDON Supermarine go into tonight's clash with Sutton Coldfield just three points behind One West leaders Clevedon with a game in hand.

But manager Mark Collier is still talking about safety ahead of silverware, even after a 3-1 victory at Beaconsfield on Saturday that moved Marine up to an all-time high of third.

"We're very pleased with our start but we're still not getting carried away," he said. "We need 15 more points to guarantee safety that's our first target."

Marine are unbeaten at home in the league, although improving Sutton Coldfield will test that record particularly with Collier missing several key men.

Doubts remain over the fitness of Giles Harris, Nathan Edwards (both hamstring) and Ian Howell (knee).

Roger Emms misses out again through suspension but Steve Davies returns.

In the Premier Division, Chippenham are looking for revenge as they entertain fellow title hopefuls Merthyr Tydfil.

A 4-0 hiding in the reverse fixture hurt Bluebirds boss Darren Perrin but sparked a 12-match unbeaten run culminating in Chippenham's qualification for the first round proper of the FA Cup at the weekend.

"We feel we owe them one after last time," said Perrin.

"We didn't give a good account of ourselves and it was by far our worst performance of the season."

The only change from Saturday's starting line-up is likely to see James Constable replace Ross Adams who picked up a facial injury in the 1-0 win at Basingstoke.

Cirencester boss Brian Hughes is set to make sweeping changes for the visit of Rugby.

Hughes has been `on the phone frantically' trying to bring in new faces, with a goalscorer the priority.

He is unlikely to conclude any deals in time for tonight's game.
