WOOTTON BASSETT 1st notched their second successive league victory with a battling performance and 10-5 away win at Blandford.
The opening 30 minutes saw Bassett throw attack after attack at the Blandford line only to be denied the score as the final pass went astray.
However, their pressure was rewarded five minutes before the interval.
Bassett broke the deadlock with an unconverted try from second row Carl Britton.
The second half saw Wootton Bassett wake up and improve their play ten fold, but it was the home side that equalised with an unconverted try from their winger.
Again Bassett's attempts to cross the line failed at the last pass and it was not until ten minutes from time that they went ahead again.
A well caught lineout ball was passed wide and eventually back into flanker Alex Penny's hand to crash over wide in the corner to seal Bassett's 10-5 victory.
Cricklade were overrun by Swindon 2nds and thrashed 48-10.
Simon Howes scored a fine try after only ten minutes from a neat blind side move and added the conversion.
But Cricklade were mostly under constant pressure and trailed 19-7 at half-time.
Swindon continued to dominate and peppered the Cricklade try line with a host of tries while in reply the hosts managed a further penalty goal.
