Women sign up for driving test

From the archive, first published Friday 14th Oct 2005.

UP to 70 women have signed up for this year's Girls on Top driving challenge in aid of Winsley-based Dorothy House Hospice Care.

The event will take place on November 6 at the Royal Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet, and there are plenty of spaces left.

Women from all over Wiltshire have the chance to drive a range of vehicles, including fire engines, articulated lorries and a passenger coach.

Dorothy House events co-ordinator Philippa Watson said: "The Girls on Top challenge is all about having a great time while raising funds for Dorothy House and let's face it, how often are you going to have the chance to drive a fire engine at top speed, with lights flashing and sirens wailing?"
