Pride and Prejudice

Keira Knightley plays Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice, filmed at Wilton House last week.TWO south Wiltshire attractions - Martin Down and Wilton House - have been getting the Hollywood treatment, as film-makers shoot a new blockbuster version of Pride And Prejudice. Two of Tinseltown's hottest young stars, Keira Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen, are playing the lead roles of Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy, and were on location in Wiltshire last week. It is the first time Hollywood has filmed the Jane Austen classic since Laurence Olivier strode around in Mr Darcy's boots in 1940. Other members of the new production's star-studded cast include Dame Judi Dench, Donald Sutherland and Brenda Blethyn. The film is due for release next summer.   more...
