WORKERS at a Trowbridge firm are to be given the chance to learn new skills.
Union representatives at Pork Farm Bowyers are working with the South West TUC's learning services team to provide courses for staff.
TUC project manager Maggie Fellows said: "More than 100 workers at Pork Farm Bowyers have already benefited from mobile learning resources brought onto the site.
"This centre will, for the first time, offer a permanent base for learning on site which should boost interest in the courses.
"This is a great example of trade unions working hand in hand with employers to the benefit of both parties.
"We help provide the training for people to learn new skills and become more confident.
"The employer reaps the rewards in both staff loyalty and increased productivity."
The centre will provide courses ranging from languages and computer skills to literacy and numeracy.
The centre has been made possible by a successful bid made by the Transport and General Workers Union to the South West TUC's learning works for all fund.
