Organic puds move to Wilts

From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Friday 30th Jan 2004.

AN organic farm providing healthy morning meals is to grow crops for tasty puddings after a major expansion.

Pertwood Partners, at Lower Pertwood Farm, has been making organic cereals for supermarkets around the country from its Wiltshire base for over five years.

It has now taken over The Organic Pudding Company in Cumbria and is also planning to make the country's first organic rape seed oil.

Chris Walford, production and marketing manager, said: "The company saw an opportunity in the market and went for it.

"Now we are looking at improvements in marketing and hope to have our names on the products in the coming months."

Pertwood Partners bought the pudding firm on January 1 and is moving crop production to its headquarters near Warminster this month.

Mr Walford said: "The difference is we rotate the land so that the pesticides don't build up and use animal fertiliser and green manures."

Moves to make the country's first organic rape seed oil are expected later in the spring.
