Late blow for Bassett

Wootton Bassett under 11s were beaten in the last seconds of the Dorset & Wilts final at Supermarine yesterday.

Bassett, the Wiltshire champions, were up against the Dorset champions, Sherborne, who proved to be a well-drilled side.

Bassett struggled to contain their direct running and soon fell a try behind. Showing great strength of character, they responded with a try of their own only to concede a late score at the end of the first half.

The second half began with intense pressure from Bassett which was rewarded with a try. Sherborne went on the offensive again and scored their third try.

Bassett responded with an equalising try and the game look set to go into extra time when Sherborne scored with the last touch of what was an excellent game.
