Scheme for staff

From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Thursday 22nd May 2003.

THE owners of small businesses will be invited to a meeting in the next few weeks to find out how staff training can help their businesses to thrive.

Business Link Berkshire and Wiltshire is implementing the Government's Workforce Development Advisory Scheme, which will help small and medium-sized firms analyse their business issues and identify how staff training can improve them.

Helena Allen, the workforce development manager for Business Link, said: "Companies should be asking themselves if their staff are ready, willing and able to do the job in hand.

"This service will help small and medium-sized businesses improve their performance as well as make work a better place for their employees.

"I know that small businesses are incredibly busy places, so the service is designed to make it simple for them to achieve their staff development needs."

The scheme is due to be launched on June 11.
