RAF padre stole fuel from base

A PADRE at RAF Lyneham has been fined £1,000 for making a night raid on forces fuel supplies to fill his own car with diesel.

Squadron Leader Matthew Olanrewaju had weaved in and out of parked planes on a runway to get to the fuel station, ignoring 12 feet long `Do Not Enter' signs on June 30 last year.

The 38-year-old then sneaked in to the fuel compound and stole 44 litres of diesel before driving away at almost twice the speed limit.

A panel of five RAF officers took ten hours to find Olanrewaju guilty of theft after a five-day court martial at Bulford.

Olanrewaju, of 47 Squadron RAF, was found guilty of stealing 44.2 litres of diesel at 10.30pm on June 30 last year from RAF Lyneham.

Olanrewaju was fined £1,000 plus £1,000 pounds costs and faces the possibility of being asked to resign from his role as RAF padre.
