Foley spells it out for Bath

From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Saturday 1st Mar 2003.

COACH Mike Foley has warned relegation-haunted Bath that it is time they capped their improved performances with the results to match.

Foley's Zurich Premiership basement boys raised hopes of avoiding the drop with a fighting if ultimately fruitless effort at league leaders Gloucester three weeks ago.

Many pundits are convinced that a repeat of that showing in their final six matches will complete their rescue mission.

But the facts Bath are without a league win this year and have lost three on the trot speak for themselves.

And coach Foley, whose side host Saracens in a must-win encounter today (2.15pm), has insisted there is no room for complacency.

The former Australian hooker said: "Pleased as we've been with certain aspects of those games, you can never dress a loss up as a win. Yes, certain things have worked well for us, but we all recognise the significance of actually winning games."

New signing, Samoan international centre/wing Elvis Seveal'i, plays today.

Squad Forwards: Barnes, Beattie, Borthwick, Delve, Galasso, Grewcock (capt), Humphreys, Lloyd, Mallett, Mears, Scaysbrook, Stevens, Thomas, Vander. Backs: Barkley, Blake, Crockett, Danielli, Maggs, Malone, Perry, Seveali'i, Tindall, Williams.
