From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Sunday 9th Feb 2003.

A SOLDIER from the Territorial Army is helping with preparations for a potential war in Iraq.

David Wilson-Brett of The Poplars, Trowbridge, is serving with the 21st Royal Signals Regiment and is based at Bulford Camp near Salisbury. He is helping to prepare troops who could be called up to fight.

The Trowbridge soldier, who works as a storeman and helps train the TA, said: "Soldiers are ready to go and morale is very high but it is a very unpredictable time."

The 49-year-old led a successful Territorial Army mountain expedition in the Pyrenees and then a seven-month peace keeping tour in Sierra Leone.

He also served for 15 years in the Royal Corp of Transport finishing up as a junior leader regiment training instructor at Colerne.

He said: "It's great to be given the opportunity to work for the Army full-time again because there is a great atmosphere and comradeship.

Thousands of reservists have been mobilised ahead of a possible conflict with Iraq.
