From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Thursday 16th Oct 2003.
THE Green Recycling Group is encouraging people to collect cans so it can help plant 35,000 new trees.
The company, which is based in The Willows, Bristol Road, Chippenham, has launched a new campaign called Get Recycling and is appealing for householders to `cash in' their old aluminium cans and tin foil.
From now until July 2004, every kilo of recycled metal collected will count towards trees that will be planted locally in parks, gardens and school grounds.
The initiative is being funded by the Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organisation.
Operations manager Ruth Meeke said: "It couldn't be easier for recyclers to take part.
"Simply take aluminium cans and foil along to Green Recycling Group Ltd and register for the Get Recycling campaign.
"After recycling 50 kilos of alucans and foil, recyclers can claim their own broad leaf tree."
More information on the campaign is available by telephoning (01249) 652511.
