CHAMBER NEWS: TROWBRIDGE Chamber of Commerce president Angeline Nicholson has written to West Wiltshire District Council's environmental health department expressing the chamber's concerns about the granting of street trading licences.
In her letter Mrs Nicholson says: "Unfortunately the chamber of commerce is no longer informed nor consulted on individual applications as has happened in the past and we wish to address this issue.
"We are conscious that applications are often in direct competition with the town's retailers and although we agree that competition is often healthy, we feel that it should be on equitable terms."
Mrs Nicholson has asked that criteria for granting licences and guidance notes regarding street trade applications should be forwarded to the chamber so it can make constructive and informed comment.
