CHAMBER NEWS: A SERIES of meetings and free training programmes are being provided to businesses on up-to-date information about what digitial technology in the office has to offer.
The initiative is a drive by Bath firm Comtec Business Systems aimed at raising the awareness of the fast-changing marketplace in digitial systems for offices.
Seminars are scheduled from February 2003, in Trowbridge, Chippenham, Devizes, Swindon and Bath, and will be free to all chamber of commerce members and businesses in the area.
Details and invitations are available from Comtec's corporate awareness department (01225) 358865.
For the past 20 years Comtec Business Systems has been one of the south west's major independent dealerships selling, maintaining and advising on the complete range of business machines and colour systems.
With foresight, the company also decided at an early stage to develop a skill base in computers and digital technology in the workplace and with the introduction of digital systems, Comtec is now able to offer user training, implementation and maintenance of the complete digital solution.
The company is building up a prestigious client base in the Wiltshire area and is adding to its team of more than 50 staff by bringing in a new area manager, Tom Purvis, for north and west Wiltshire.
Mr Purvis has more than 20 years experience in the office equipment arena.
Coupled with its new accreditation from the Government for `Technology Means Business' as an approved advice centre, Comtec is planning a series of seminars in Wiltshire to enable businesses to assess the impact of electronic documentation management on their specific operations.
Working in conjunction with Panasonic to promote awareness, Comtec can offer small and medium size businesses and corporate accounts not only the benefit of working closely with an established local company but also the reassurance of the technical support of a major internationally known manufacturer and up to minute information and advice on a complete digital solution.
Panasonic's wide range of business products appeal to all sizes of businesses, offering an award winning range of `Workio' multi-function machines to smaller mini office products for the home office.
Panasonic also offers high speed colour and black and white scanners and Panaboards along with the market-leading Panasonic fax range.
Peter Strelczak, Comtec's managing director , said: "Our aim is to take away the normal pressures associated with the sales environment.
"We are pleased to offer these unique awareness seminars which will ensure all local companies have the opportunity to be digitally aware, with independent qualified advice and a preview of the type and range of up-to-date digital equipment available."
The firm's client base is large and varied with more than 2,500, maintaining in excess of 3,000 systems, coupled with training and advice co-ordinators and offering the end user a complete service package unrivalled in the south west.
Manufacturers Cooper-Avon Tyres has been a client for more than 15 years. David Turnbull, the organisation's chief buyer, said: "Cooper-Avon Tyres has had a long association with Comtec and relies on them to supply photocopying machines, fax machines and all the necessary consumable items to keep us running.
"In addition, Comtec maintains these machines and offers a fast response in the event of a breakdown.
"Consolidated invoicing is a major feature enabling us to reduce tedious paperwork, and their level of accuracy means no time is wasted on queries. This association works well."
