From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Friday 3rd Jan 2003.
AN exhibition of royal visits and celebrations, using Wiltshire Times photos dating back to the 1930s, is coming to Trowbridge and Bradford on Avon.
A total of 64 images from Wiltshire County Council's Historic Photograph and Print Collection give an insight into how jubilees, coronations and royal visits have been celebrated locally between 1887 and 2001.
The exhibition will be at Trowbridge library from today until January 31, and at Bradford on Avon library in February.
A number of the images are taken from the Wiltshire Times, including one from May 1935 showing a children's procession in Trowbridge in the silver jubilee of George V and a tea party for the coronation of George VI in May 1937.
Paul Connell, museums officer at Wiltshire County Council, said: "We decided to do the exhibition because people have been celebrating the Queen's golden jubilee in 2002 and we thought it would be interesting for them to see how jubilees and other royal events were celebrated in the past.
